THE NEWTOWN SHOOTINGS - Another Perspective
On December 14, 2012, tragedy struck the Sandy Hill Elementary School in Newtown CT. Twenty-year-old Adam Peter Lanza forced his way into the school and proceeded to gun down 20 six and seven-year-old students as well as 6 teachers and administrators. This after he had murdered his mother in her home. A horrific tragedy coming after years of similar tragedies. In a previous essay, I presented a numerological profile of Adam Lanza and offered a perspective on why him and why, now? In this essay, I present a numerological look at Newtown and why, perhaps this event took place in this particular, quiet Connecticut town. Numerology is based upon the numbers 1-9. Additionally, there is a set of numbers known as Master Numbers. These are the double digit numbers 11, 22, 33, 44, and 55, numbers that are a higher calling of their lower digit brethren (2, 4, 6, 8, 1). Numbers that exist and work in a somewhat exalted fashion. In looking at the numbers of Newtown, I discovered that Newtown is all Master Numbers. It has an 11 Soul Urge, a 22 Personality/Image and a 33 Expression. The Master Number 11 represents the intuitive and inspirational teacher and healer. This is a number that manifests in order to show people the way, through words, actions and thoughts. One of its purposes is to inspire others through the use of those means. The Soul Urge position in Numerology is the heart's desire. It is the being or spirit of an individual or entity and in many ways, represents who one would truly like to be. For Newtown, this may indicate that it was in the town's 'programming' to be a source of inspiration and to be the place of a major, teaching moment. In light of the events on December 14, this may be the ultimate teaching moment for the country and the world in that we may begin to move away from a culture and a civilization that glorifies violence and mayhem. Already, the dialogue has begun in the United States about our gun culture and serious talks are underway regarding a way to rein in and better control the proliferation of firearms, firearms that in too many instances wreak destruction and misery upon unsuspecting and innocent people. The Master Number 22 represents the Master Builder. This is an energy or vibration that envisions, and brings into form the big picture for the good of all. As a 'builder' it works towards creating a new dynamic, condition, or paradigm. The 22 puts into a structure and tangible form the Universal energy. In Numerology, the Personality/Image number is a type of 'first impression' number. It is also the doing technique and the way that the Soul Urge energy manifests itself in the world. As with all Master Number energy, if not manifested correctly it can create a type of martyr dynamic. In some ways, the young victims of the shootings became martyrs to a mindset that says it's alright to have unlimited guns in the hands of people and even worse, that a semi-automatic weapon is perfectly acceptable, even there is absolutely no practical use for such a gun. Yet, out of the ashes of this particular tragedy, we may see a new paradigm, a new mindset, a new, more conscious and humane policy on guns. The Master Number 33 is the Master Healer. In a way, it is the manifestation of the Christ energy in its ability to touch others in a benevolent and healing manner. The 33 is love raised to its highest vibration. In metaphysics 33 holds great importance. It is recognized as the highest level in the Masonic Order and is also the age of Christ when he died, and it is the number of vertebrae in the spine when one is first born (a number that reduces to 28 as one ages and the five sacral vertebrae fuse into one). It is a number that demands a balance between service and sacrifice and just as the Bible teaches “Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children’s children”.... Deuteronomy 4:9. It is in this regard that the 33 implores us to be the protectors, teachers and healers of our children. It is a number that has at its core the desire to heal and make better the world and its population. This is accomplished through leading by example and doing for others out of the goodness of spirit and the heart. The world is changing and we, as its inhabitants, must be a major part of the change, for we are the living and breathing embodiment of the consciousness that makes this planet unique. The Expression position in Numerology is who one must be. It is the sum of the parts (the Soul Urge and the Personality/Image) and in being that total, it must make manifest in the world the expression of the vibration. Newtown has lived up to its 33 energy (even, in a way becoming a martyr) through being the place where such a tragedy has taken place, yet also being a place that in the short-term and in the long view, has been thrust into a prominent role on the world stage, a role that will show us all that we must change our ways. With a 'birth date' (incorporation) of October 11, 1711, Newtown has a 4 Life Path. A 4 Life Path has a great deal to do with duty, honor and responsibility and it requires a well-ordered system of conduct and morals. It also leans towards the tendencies of stability and safety. The 4 is especially diligent and responsible in the situations that revolve around family and country. It is these very qualities that must be examined on a national and global stage. In summary, Newtown was almost destined to play a prominent role in re-focusing a national dialogue. It's actualization as an entity is to teach and inspire (11); bring order, structure and build a new foundation (22); and, teach and heal through its actions and behavior. In all tragedies there are great lessons to be taught and learned. The visceral reaction of the world to the event that transpired shows me that we are taking the steps necessary to create and open and honest dialogue and turn the focus towards a more loving, compassionate and humane way of living and interacting. It is this author's wish that we all wake up and embrace the concepts of love and acceptance while understanding that which affects one of us, affects us all.
